私の知人が日本代表を勤める、面白い技術を持ったCanestaというベンチャーが、日本語と英語ができるFAEを急遽、大至急、喉から手が出んばかりに募集中。日本でビッグクライアントが取れたので、そのサポートをする人が必要という景気のいい話です。

勤務地は本社のSunnyvale。現在日本にいる方でもビザサポートするとのこと。

Canastaの製品はCMOSセンサーチップで、要は「カメラ」なのだが、3D形状をリアルタイムに認識できる、というのがミソ。

Canesta CMOS chips emit a field of continuous field of infrared light
and measure the time it takes for that light to reflect back to the
chip – for every pixel. In real-time, the chip processes those
distances to create a three dimensional image of the objects in its
field of vision.

CMOSチップが赤外線光を面的に放射し、ピクセルごとにその反射が戻ってくるまでの時間を計ることで、対象物がどこにあるかを3Dで認識する、と。

リアルタイムで計れるので、単なる静止画としての3D形状ではなく、どんな動きをしているかもわかるわけです。Canestaの製品紹介ページにあるビデオを見るとイメージがつかめると思うが、ジェスチャー認識などできるわけですね。

Job Description – Senior System/Field Engineer

A senior engineering and support position with the Platform Engineering Support team in Canesta, reporting to the Director of Vision System Products – Automotive/Industrial / Commercial Customers. This role is perfect for a highly-motivated, customer-savvy, multi-disciplinary engineer who enjoys connecting technically with customers.

The position will

• Work directly with customers in various parts of the world including Asia and Europe to integrate Canesta sensor technologies into their products.
• Program manage customer design-in projects and act as a liaison between customers and Canesta’s engineering organization.
• Develop expert technical knowledge of Canesta’s sensor technologies.
• Create and deliver technical presentations, documentation and training.
• Provide on-site and off-site technical support to potential and existing customers.
• Assist Marketing and Sales team with pre- and post-sales technical support, including project proposals and live demonstrations.
• Perform Tests Electrical and Software on Module developed using Canesta Technology

Minimum Requirements

• BSEE/CS, or equivalent (MSEE/CS preferred).
• 4 years or more experience engineering customer solutions and providing customer support.
• Strong multi-disciplinary hardware, firmware and software skills; comfortable discussing hardware specifics and software architecture in the same meeting.
• Able to establish system requirements and then to distill them into project requirements, manage resultant schedule and drive to completion.
• Must have strong communication and planning skills and be willing to travel to support customers and partners.
• Must be able to read, write and speak in English / Japanese

Additional Desired Experience

• Self starter, ability to quickly learn and implement new technologies.
• Development or support in an automotive environment, such as a Tier-1 or OEM.
• Experience with CMOS image sensors.
