Dave Winerによれば、「From a trusted correspondent, talking with a contact who works at the Netscape part of AOL/Time Warner. “He said they had decided that weblogs are the next killer app, and that most of the work at the Mountain View office was going into building a weblog component for AOL. He also mentioned that about 400 people are working on that software. This is in constrast to about 20 who are working on Mozilla.”」
とのこと。きっと正しいのでしょう。でも、それを読んだKevin Werbachは、
「If it’s true that AOL has 400 people working on Weblog software, it’s a very bad sign for AOL. Most of the popular Weblog tools were written by a handful of people. The basic functionality just isn’t that complex. Throwing hundreds of programmers at a problem is what big companies do when they lose the innovation gene.」
と言ってます。

さすが梅田さん、早耳(早目？でしょうか）ですね。確かに４００人でblogというのを聞いた時はAOLは正気の沙汰ではないなと思いました。
その昔クラサバ全盛なりしころ、某日本のSIerが５００人体制で一つのクラサバシステムを構築しようとしていて、結局メルトダウンして完成しなかったことがありましたが、そんなかんじでしょうか。
