戦争ネタ系ジョークをいくつか紹介。アメリカ人が一枚板で戦争賛成ではないことがちょっとわかると思う。

老舗のThe Onionのトップページは戦争一色という感じ。

「Bushが自ら戦場に」というのでは、
“There may be some folks out there, born silver spoon in hand” “but that ain’t Bush. No, that ain’t Bush,” “He ain’t no fortunate son.”ということで、ブッシュはただのドラ息子じゃないという締めで、つまり本当はただのどら息子だと揶揄している。”born silver spoon in hand”はボンボンということですね。

「US forms its own U.N.」は、UNの賛同が得られないのに痺れを切らしたアメリカが自分たちだけでUNを作るというもの。
“We’ve got Bill Frist from Tennessee, Tom DeLay from Texas, and Dennis Hastert from way up in Illinois,” U.S.U.N. delegate Rick Santorum said. “Despite the diverse backgrounds of the delegates, cooperation has not been a problem”
ということで、「アメリカが世界」と思っているアメリカ人を笑っているのである。

「デモクラシーを愛したに違いない、アメリカの空爆で死んだイラク人」
となると、ブラック度は高まって、「夫が生きていたら、やがてアメリカがもたらしてくれることになるはずのデモクラシーを気に入ったことと思う」と未亡人が語る、というもの。もちろんこれは、「アメリカのイラク参戦はイラクのためとかいいながら、イラク人の命を奪うもの」という皮肉。

「参戦擁護者・反対者の議論」は、論理的にイラク攻撃を批判する反対者に対して、擁護側は「とにかく俺を信じろ、全て大丈夫だ」としか言わないというもの。

The Onion以外では、今はもう更新されていないSatire Wireのもので、悪の枢軸（Axis of Evil)のものはジョークとしてのレベルが高い。「偉そうなAxis of Evilに対抗し、リビア、中国、シリアがAxis of As Evilを結成した」というもの。その知らせを聞いた北朝鮮のKim Jung-ilが
“Right. They are Just as Evil… in their dreams!” “Everybody knows we’re the best evils… best at being evil… we’re the best.” といって怒り、フセインは
“An Axis can’t have more than three countries,” なぜなら、第二次世界大戦のEvil Axisは日・独・伊だったからと宣言。

それを受けて、他の国々が3国ずつまとまっては続々と新たなAxisを形成する。
“Cuba, Sudan, and Serbia said they had formed the Axis of Somewhat Evil, forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the Axis of Occasionally Evil”以下延々と続く。

最後は
“Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn’t want to join any Axis, but privately, world leaders said that’s only because no one asked them.”と、おなじみのユダヤ人ジョーク。
