「William GibsonがBlogを始めた」。SFファンでない方のために翻訳すると、「神が毎日空から降りてきて『その日の御言葉』を告げるようになった」って感じでしょうか。
もう読むたびにくらくらする。ドライでありながらセクシーな文体。細めた目でじっと世の中を見詰めているような世界観。こんなものに毎日触れられてしまっていいんだろうか！！こういうのが当たり前だと思って育つこれからの子供たちは一体全体どんな贅沢な精神世界を構築するんだろう！？
どれくらいセクシーかは言葉に尽くせないので、実際に読んで頂くとして、私が読んで腰が砕けてしまった一文だけ紹介します。彼のBiographyの出だしです。
「Gene Wolfe once said that being an only child whose parents are dead is like being the sole survivor of drowned Atlantis. There was a whole civilization there, an entire continent, but it’s gone. And you alone remember. That’s my story too, my father having died when I was six, my mother when I was eighteen.」
インターネットの父と言われるヒトはたくさんいるけど、実はイメージを喚起したという意味で、Gibsonのサイバーパンク（Neuromancerとか）がインターネット（やAIやその他もろもろのIT技術）の発展に一番大切だったんじゃないか、と思う私でした。

I am sort of impressed/surprised that you read Willian Gibson.
He uses great metaphor to describe things. I often quoted his ideas when I was writing proposals for new projects.

I think some ideas shown in progressive science fiction are getting very close to modern thoughts/philosophy.
For example, you can enjoy the movie “Matrix” as a simple action movie. But if you look into the idea behind the movie, this goes even beyond Descartes and questions the true existance of human beings.
Same to William Gibson, he once described the structure of one future city in one of his novels. His idea was a denial to those popular modern “utopian” city plannings which you typically see everywhere (i.e. Chistopher Alexander). Gibson looked into the chaotic future city as one structure not based on traditional western idea (here we go! westen idea again). He incorporated deconstrutivism into his ideas and he discovered the order in the future city.
For me, just reading his novel is much more effective to understand modern thoughts than reading Derrida or other “twisted” modern thinkers’ fancy books.
